Reusable carry-out containers are used in the dining hall’s carry-out program. These reusable containers prevent an estimated 250,000 disposable single-use containers from being sent to the landfill annually.

Dining Services’ FoodPro food production management system is able to accurately forecast our production needs, enabling batch cooking which reduces food waste. The size of our serving utensils corresponds with the portion size forecasts in FoodPro, further increasing our production accuracy. Based on our gross production needs, we are able to set up bulk purchases allowing both fiscal and environmental responsibility through fewer deliveries.

The ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ Dining hall dish machine has the lowest water consumption rate in the industry and a CSS (Chemical Savings System) which reduces detergent consumption by 40%.

Single use carry-out plastic bags were eliminated from all dining locations on campus in 2023.

Reusable Coffee Cup Campaign – Chesapeake Coffee Roasters and Cool Beans offer a $0.50 discount on your beverage purchase, if you bring your own reusable cup.

At the Dining Hall, all dine in meals are served using only durable, reusable/washable food service ware instead of single-use plastics or polystyrene. Guest also use reusable/washable dinnerware and utensils.
