Programs & Services
Powerful Connections:
Through our Powerful Connections program you can form lasting bonds with other diverse students. Hone your leadership skills, learn about academic expectations, get to know a peer mentor, and discover the difference that developing powerful and lasting connections can make in your college career.
First Generation Sea Gull Scholars Program:
This is ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½’s first programmatic commitment to supporting ALL undergraduate first generation students throughout their tenure at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½. We began with a soft opt-in program for current first gen-students with a focus on the class of 2027. This program will foster collaboration to ensure access, success, and celebration for first generation college students as they navigate the higher education landscape. We currently have a cross divisional committee as well as incorporation of Faculty, Staff, Administrators, and Alumni working together to support this important population of students.
Departmental Events:
Through our various events, we aim to provide opportunities for the campus and local community to learn, engage with, and celebrate the various facets of diversity on ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½’s Campus. These events include, but are not limited to:
- Multicultural Festival Week
- Multicultural Leadership Summit
- Anti-Racism Summit
- Guest Performers & Speakers
- Heritage Month Celebrations
- And More!
Faculty & Staff Resources
Consultation and support on topics related to diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and mattering.
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) Faculty Fellows: The Fellows work with staff from the ODI and across campus on special projects and initiatives related to creating a greater sense of belonging on campus. The Fellows may also work with senior administrators and shared governance representatives to obtain input on the project and develop a report for the President’s Cabinet.
There are currently three faculty Fellows whose projects cover a wide range of campus DEI Efforts.
- One fellow is dedicated to the design, implementation, and assessment of in person training for faculty and staff on topics including but not limited to, implicit bias and identity development.
- One fellow is dedicated to the support of incorporating DEI into teaching, scholarship, and service for Faculty members. This work may include hosting open office hours and consultation space for faculty who need assistance in this endeavor.
- One fellow is dedicated to supporting DEIB engagement with students. This work may include, but is not limited to supporting the IDEAAA Special Interest Housing Community, training students on their role in DEI work on college campuses and more.
- All fellows are supporting efforts to develop a comprehensive diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) strategic plan. To create the DEI strategic plan, Fellows along with ODI staff and other campus leaders will review the University’s strategic plan and campus climate study, as well as seek input from students and employees from around campus. This plan will be developed on an ongoing basis in preparation for approval by the new Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
