Dr. Christy Weer, Dean & Professor of Management

Message from the Dean

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business. We offer a comprehensive curriculum with eight undergraduate majors including Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting, Business Economics, Finance, Information Systems, International Business, Management, and Marketing as well as the Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. We offer full-time and part-time MBA programs in fully online and hybrid formats, tailored to fit the schedules of working individuals. Our programs are fully accredited by AACSB, the premiere accrediting body for business schools worldwide. This accreditation affirms the quality of our programs, faculty, staff, and students and recognizes our commitment to delivering top-notch business education.

There are many reasons to explore the Perdue School of Business - from our small class sizes (average of 28) that provide ample opportunity to interact with our amazing faculty to our commitment to professional development through a dedicated Perdue School Office of Professional Development, our students are prepared for career success. With experiential learning as a hallmark of our programs, all students engage in an Applied Business Learning Experience (ABLE) where they participate in an internship or similar type of practical experience prior to graduation. Beyond internships, students have the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of experiential learning both inside and outside of the classroom. For example, did you know that each year we award $300,000 in funding and services for aspiring entrepreneurs, allowing them to move their business visions to reality? Or, that we hold multiple professional sales competitions each year where students have the opportunity to earn cold hard cash as well as bragging rights as the Mid-Atlantic Sales and Marketing (MASMI) sales champion? Our Portfolio Practicum students invest over $2,000,000 in real money (with oversight) and typically out-perform the S&P 500. And, our accounting students partner with local prosecutors to work on real life investigations as they learn to navigate the world of fraud and forensic accounting. Together these experiences help transition our business students to business professionals during their time in the Perdue School.

If opportunities such as these pique your interest, I welcome you to visit us and see the possibilities for yourself.

I look forward to seeing you on campus!

Warm regards,

Christy H. Weer
