- Internships are a great path to develop skills and build your resume.
- Although not mandatory, we encourage all eligible COMM majors to apply in order to gain real and practical experience in the field they wish to pursue in communication.
- Can be completed with local, regional, national, or international organizations
- Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter options available
Minimum Eligibility for COMM Internships
- Junior standing
- General GPA: 2.5
- COMM GPA: 3.0

How to find a site for credit-earning Communication internship
It is never too early to start locating a place for an internship. The following leads are a great place to start:

- Review this webpage: Internships for Credit
- Eligibility check (General GPA, COMM GPA, Junior standing…)
- Place of interest. Verify it is REAL!
- Reach out to internship site. Visit, email, phone, or send requested materials to site
- Meet with site supervisor - Virtually or in-person
- Check that duties meet COMM requirements and your career desires
- Complete application (including work schedule)
- Online recommendation. Send full-time COMM faculty member in your track (preferred) the link to complete this
- Submit application and resume by email deadline
- Approved or pending. Check campus e-mail for registration date and permission code # that allows you to register for credit via GullNet
- Check campus e-mail for info about mandatory orientation class
- Attend mandatory Zoom orientation class one week before the internship semester starts
Communication Internship Interest Meeting
There is one Zoom Internship Interest Meeting each semester in which the Internship Director discusses the internship process and answers your questions. If you are thinking about an internship for credits in COMM, you should attend one of these meetings.
